Flat-rate means flat-rate. The price we quote you over the phone covers delivery, the rental period, pickup, and disposal up to the weight limit for that size. We don't tack on a fuel surcharge or an environmental fee at pickup the way some of the larger national chains do. The only things that change your price after the fact are going over the weight limit or keeping the container past the rental period — both of which we'll tell you about upfront so there's no surprise on the back end.

We book over the phone at (540) 546-5055 — call, tell us what the job is and roughly how much debris you're dealing with, and we'll recommend a size and get you on the schedule. We'll go over payment when we confirm your delivery window rather than requiring a deposit just to hold a date.

Included: delivery, the container for your rental period, pickup, and disposal within the ton limit for that size. Extra charges only come up if you exceed the weight limit for the size you rented, keep the dumpster longer than the agreed rental period, or load prohibited items that require special handling. Not usually. The size and weight limit matter more than the material type, with one exception — straight concrete, dirt, brick, or other heavy debris fills up the weight limit fast in a small footprint, so we'll often steer you to a smaller, heavier-duty container for that rather than a big general-debris box. Ask about our concrete and heavy debris option when you call.

Yes, that's how we book almost every rental. Tell us the type of job — a garage cleanout, a roof tear-off, a kitchen remodel — and roughly the square footage or scope, and we can size and price it accurately over the phone. If it's an unusual job we might ask a few more questions, but a site visit generally isn't necessary.

Call us and we'll swap it for a larger size or send a second container, depending on what's easiest for your site. It happens, especially on renovation jobs where you don't know exactly how much is coming out of the walls until demo starts. It's cheaper to size up from the start when you can, but a mid-job swap is a normal request, not a hassle.

Most single-room jobs — a bathroom gut or a small remodel — fit comfortably in a 10-yard or 15-yard dumpster. A kitchen remodel with cabinets, flooring, and drywall usually pushes into the 15-yard range. A 30-yard holds roughly the equivalent of nine pickup truck loads and handles a major renovation, new-build construction debris, or an estate cleanout. A 40-yard holds around twelve pickup loads and is our go-to for commercial fit-outs, large teardowns, and roofing work at scale. Both are large containers, so we'll also confirm you have enough flat, stable space to place one.

Yes, and this trips people up. A container can hit its weight limit while still looking half-empty if you're loading concrete, dirt, roofing shingles, or other dense material. For heavy loads we'll often recommend a smaller box rated for the weight rather than a bigger one you can't legally fill. For bulky-but-light stuff like furniture or yard waste, volume is the limiting factor instead, and you can generally fill the box to the top.

No, placing a container on your own driveway or private property generally doesn't require a permit. A permit only comes into play if the dumpster has to sit in the street or on the public right-of-way — for example if you don't have driveway space or the driveway is being worked on. In that case the City of Winchester's Public Services Department issues a Right-of-Way Work Permit, and we can tell you when a job you're describing sounds like it'll need one.

It can, and it's worth mentioning when you book. Winchester and Frederick County sit on karst limestone terrain, which means shallow bedrock and naturally uneven or softer ground in places is a real, documented feature of this part of the Shenandoah Valley — not just your yard being unlucky. We look for level, stable ground and avoid any low spot or depression that could hint at a void underneath before we set the container down. If you've noticed a soft or sunken area anywhere near the delivery spot, point it out to our driver.

A loaded 20 or 30 yard container is heavy, so we put boards or plywood under the wheels and delivery points as standard practice on every drop, not as an extra service. That protects the surface whether it's asphalt, concrete, or gravel. If your driveway has existing cracks or a slope we should know about, mention it when you book so the driver can plan placement accordingly.

It's common enough here that it's worth planning for. Because bedrock sits closer to the surface across much of the Great Valley karst belt, excavation and demolition crews in this area sometimes hit rock sooner than jobs elsewhere would. That's more a note for your excavation contractor than for us, but it's also why we recommend a sturdy size like our concrete and heavy debris container for demolition jobs — you'll likely be dealing with rock and concrete together.

We ask that you keep electronics out of the dumpster. Virginia doesn't have a blanket landfill ban on TVs or computers, but state law — the Computer Recovery and Recycling Act — requires manufacturers to offer free take-back and recycling programs for that equipment, so it's easy and often free to recycle it properly instead. None of that goes in the dumpster. Paint, solvents, motor oil, pesticides, propane tanks, and similar household hazardous waste need to go through a proper household hazardous waste program rather than a roll-off container — mixing them into general debris creates real safety and disposal problems. Frederick County's Citizens' Convenience Centers handle household hazardous waste; check the county's landfill and solid waste page for current drop-off details, or ask us and we'll point you the right direction.

Usually not without the refrigerant being properly removed first, per EPA rules on refrigerant handling. Tell us when you book if you've got a fridge, freezer, or AC unit in the load — we can advise on the right way to handle it so it doesn't hold up your pickup. No — if a renovation on an older home disturbs lead paint, plaster, or old flooring that may contain asbestos, that material needs to be handled by a licensed abatement contractor, not put in a general debris dumpster. Pre-1978 homes, which are common around historic Old Town Winchester, are the ones where this comes up most. Get the abatement contractor's guidance first, and once that hazardous material is cleared out separately, the remaining renovation debris can go in our container as normal.

No. Just tell us exactly where on the property you want the container placed when you book, and our driver will set it there whether you're home or not. Same goes for pickup — as long as the container is accessible and loaded within the weight limit, we don't need you on site.

Same-day or next-day delivery is often possible depending on our schedule that week — call in the morning and ask what's available. Yes. Winchester is our home base, but we regularly deliver throughout Frederick County and into neighboring Clarke County — towns like Stephens City, Berryville, Middletown, and Boyce, among others. Winter ice and snow are a real seasonal factor in the Shenandoah Valley, and they can push a delivery or pickup back a day if the roads or your site aren't safe to access. We'll call you directly if weather is going to affect your scheduled date rather than leaving you guessing. If you're renting specifically for storm cleanup after a bad winter storm, mention that when you book so we can prioritize getting you a container as soon as conditions allow.
